About the Search Firm

On March 11, 2008, the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors approved the establishment of a Presidential Search Committee to search for and screen candidates for the position of President of Laurentian University and recommend a candidate to the Board of Governors.

The Board has hired the executive search firm, Kenniff & Racine to lead the process. Kenniff & Racine is an executive search firm with offices in Montréal and Toronto. Patrick Kenniff, the lead consultant who will be working with the Presidential Search Committee, is a former university president having served for ten years as Rector and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University. He has been active in executive search since 1997 and has carried out assignments in several fields, including: technology, manufacturing, universities, non-profit organizations. Of particular importance to Laurentian University is the firm’s ability to deliver services in both French and English. Having recruited senior administrators for the Université de Moncton, as well as the rector of the Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface, the firm is sensitive to the needs of academic institutions working in regions of Canada where French is the minority language. Le 11 mars 2008, le Comité exécutif du Conseil des gouverneurs a approuvé la composition du Comité de sélection du recteur ou de la rectrice, qui s’occupera de chercher des candidats pour le poste au rectorat de l’Université Laurentienne, d’assurer la présélection de ceux-ci et de recommander au Conseil des gouverneurs la meilleure personne pour assumer le rôle.

Pour diriger cette procédure, le Conseil a retenu les services de Kenniff & Racine, une agence de recrutement de cadres située à Montréal et à Toronto. M. Patrick Kenniff, l’expert-conseil principal collaborant avec le Comité de sélection, a été le recteur et vice-chancelier de l’Université Concordia pendant 10 ans et œuvre dans le domaine du recrutement de cadres depuis 1997, ayant recruté dans nombreux domaines, notamment la technologie, la fabrication, le milieu universitaire et le secteur sans but lucratif. D’une importance toute particulière à l’Université Laurentienne, l’agence est en mesure de dispenser des services en français et anglais. Elle a recruté des cadres supérieurs pour l’Université de Moncton et le recteur du Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface, s’avérant très sensible aux besoins des établissements d’enseignement qui se situent dans les régions du Canada où le français est une langue minoritaire.
