Degree Requirements
Two program options are available on a full-time and on a part-time basis:
Option 1: Thesis Program
A student in this option must successfully:
- complete two full graduate courses (12 credits) from the list of approved courses, with the equivalent of at least one course (6 credits) from the core physics courses (see below); and
- prepare and defend a thesis (PHYS 5000) on a topic in one of the department's research areas.
Option 2: Course Work Program
A student in this option must successfully:
- complete a minimum of three full graduate courses (18 credits), with the equivalent of at least one and a half courses (9 credits) from the core physics courses (see below)
- prepare a critical review essay (PHYS 5005) that involves independent library research.
