Community Partnerships

 

Since 1960, Laurentian University has been offering courses and programmes in the French language.  Many Francophones have received university degrees without having to leave Northern Ontario.  Furthermore, many research projects undertaken by our professors have helped many areas of the Sudbury community.

 

Laurentian University has also been a very important community partner.  In the early 1970’s, Laurentian played an important role in creating La Nuit sur l’étang and Prise de parole.  Today, Laurentian is recognized as the Founding Partner of La Nuit sur l’étang.  We are proud to have participated in the development of many Francophone artists and musical groups such as Robert Paquette, Paul Demers, Michel Paiement and Swing.  2007 will mark the return of La Brunante to Laurentian University.

 

Our support towards the Francophone community has given us an opportunity to play an active role in the development of the Franco-Ontarian culture in areas such as education and health.  These partnerships allow us to work with community organizations who share common objectives.  Please find as follows a list of our partnerships:
