The internal deadline for grant applications is set at two weeks before the external deadline to enable us to check that the applications are complete, follow the agency rules, and to get the appropriate University signature(s).
All applications for external funding must be accompanied by an Approval form for Research Grant Application, signed by the Chair and Dean of the applicant's faculty. Applications need to be submitted to the Dean with the form for signature before they are brought to the RDC Office for final signature. For applications submitted online (for example NSERC applications), the Dean should be given a paper copy of the application with the form. The form can be faxed to the Research Office once it is signed.
We cannot guarantee that proposals received less than two weeks before the external deadline will be sent to the Agency on time. It should be noted that NSERC deadlines are deadlines for receipt of the application. SSHRC deadlines refer to the date on which the application must be postmarked.
Applicants are strongly urged to have their applications looked over by a colleague before submitting them to the RDC office, as it is much easier for a researcher in one's area to see some of the inevitable errors that crop up than it is to see them one's self.
